South

I have always lived in Bournemouth and growing up in the area, I developed a real

affection with the coast. My wife and I have three children and we feel very privileged to

have been able to bring them up in such a wonderful environment. Two of my children

have left home, and they miss it so much that they return here whenever possible.

From my 40 years of experience of selling coastal property, I have found that an ever

increasing number of people are seeking a home on the south coast, primarily for the

quality of life that the area affords. The area is famous for having its own temperate micro

climate, with milder winters and more summer sunshine hours than most parts of the UK.

The south coast is known for its wonderful rural charm and relaxed seaside living, but it’s

also well located for those who need to travel into the capital - making the area hugely

popular with people seeking a coastal bolthole to enjoy relaxed weekends and holidays as

well as those looking towards retirement.

There are seven glorious miles of sandy beaches in Bournemouth and Poole, including the

world famous Sandbanks peninsula which is regarded as one of the most exclusive coastal

areas in the world. Bournemouth beach was recently voted as the best beach in the UK,

as well as fifth best in Europe and 14th best in the world. Plus, there are no shortage of

activities to get involved with, such as paddle boarding, motor boating, kayaking, kite and

wind surfing and sailing.

Further afield, the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Jurassic coast is a true jewel in the

crown of the south coast. The charming village of Hamble is an ever-popular yachting

destination, whilst the Hampshire town of Lymington offers easy access to the New Forest

as well as a car ferry link to the Isle of Wight. Finally, for a real change in pace, the

continental style living in Jersey and the Channel Islands is a truly tempting proposition.

If you are thinking about moving closer to the sea, do get in touch as we would love to tell

you more about what the south coast has to offer.
