Celebrated Chef, Restaurateur and Food Writer
Mark Hix
Hixter, River Thames, London
A stone’s throw from Borough Market, Hixter
was originally a metal box factory and is lauded
as one of the most unique and versatile venues
south of the river. The main dining room,
complete with a baby grand piano, is overlooked
by contemporary artwork and the walls of the
striking open-plan kitchen are built with the
Himalayan salt bricks that are used to age their
beef. Chicken and steak form the heart of the
menu, alongside foraged British ingredients,
and fish & seafood dishes influenced by
Mark’s travels.
Hixter also offers a variety of flexible private
dining spaces for corporate and social events.
Downstairs, Mark’s Bar is a hidden gem featuring
an impressive sunken bar with cinema-style bar
seating and Mark’s signature billiards table which
also hosts monthly DJ nights.
HIX Oyster & Fish House, Lyme Regis, Dorset
Perched on the hillside in Lyme Regis, HIX Oyster & Fish House offers
panoramic views of the Jurassic Coast. Quite simply the most
picturesque spot in Dorset to enjoy locally sourced fish and seafood.
A large terrace wraps around the informal, light and airy dining room
with floor to ceiling windows. With a license for civil weddings, this is
also the perfect setting to tie the knot.
Opened by Mark Hix in 2018 in his native home of Dorset, the menus
are built around the long-established, personal relationships that Mark
has with his suppliers and use only
responsibly produced, carefully
sourced and simply served, and
mostly local, British seasonal
ingredients.
For parties why not try a seasonal
feast menu, including fish feasts,
shellfish feasts and surf 'n' turf;
sharing style starters with a
stunning display of local fish and
seafood to feast upon, adding that
extra bit of theatre to your Fish
House experience.
